I had a very busy weekend coming up and the "bug" hit me! No, not a stomach bug, the "crafty bug".
It seems to hit me at the most inopportune times. I had 2 baby showers to go to, a t-shirt quilt to finish, house sitting for a friend, fabric and thread to pick up, drawing a pattern for a lap top back pack. Then there's the issues of the family wanting to eat and have clean laundry (so demanding aren't they!?). I found a blog: www.sweetaprils.com with a cute idea for a diaper bike. I was looking for a twist on the diaper cake for the shower gifts and this was really cute! I made some changes in the details but followed the general assembly directions. My niece, Amanda, has a jungle theme nursery and my niece, Nicole, has a frog theme nursery. Here are some changes I made below.
The original directions are on : www.sweetaprils.com.

Front view of diaper bike. I used a sippy cup instead of a bottle for the headlight. The sippy cups were more colorful. The more colors, the better! |

Here's everything I used for the jungle bike. I used a monkey rattle to hold the handle bars together and the green sippy cup was the headlight. |
 |
The diapers came in a package of 40 and the original directions called for 34 diapers. I didn't know what to do with extra diapers so I used 19 instead of 17 diapers for each wheel. A rubber band holds the wheels together. |
 |
I wrapped the wheels in dark green ribbon and pinned with safety pins instead of the straight pins called for in the original directions. I used 2 more diapers as the seat. I wrapped the wash cloth around the middle and a bib at each end for the fenders. |

Here are the bib fenders with the washcloth under the bib fenders on the jungle bike. |
 |
I think it was more stable to wrap the washcloth over the bibs to make the seat. I did it on the frog bike but forgot to do it on the jungle bike. |
 |
My sippy cup headlight. The green bow is a long piece of ribbon wrapped around the stuffed animal and tied in a bow between the rattle and sippy cup, acting as a seat belt to keep the stuffed animal on the bike. |
 |
Add sock handles. |

Here's the frog! |

Too cute! I may think of some other diaper gifts, these were fun to make! |
