Spring has Sprung

The front of the blanket is the print material, the back is a cotton chambray

It's about that time, to plan your outdoor activities! Picnics in the park, baseball games, concerts, and just some good old relaxing in the sun!I was asked to make a 2 sided blanket for some outdoor lounging. I chose lightweight chambray backing to go with this woven fabric, reminiscent of ikat fabric that is so trendy right now. This pattern fabric was hand-woven, very vibrant colors. The top 2 photos  were taken outside, the bottom 2 (closer-up) were taken indoors. I should've used a flash outside since it was dusk (the fabric looks almost purple in the outside photos). It is a rich crimson red, gold, dusty denim blue. I chose the chambray to bring out that little bit of blue in the front and topstitching in crimson. She plans to take her blanket to music festivals and I'm sure the family will enjoy plenty of picnics on it!
